One thing I think is cool, is a logo that looks great flat, and one that looks even cooler with some kind of effect. One cool example is by Alberto ‘Kaiser’ on Guerra.
This is a great example of how a simple logo can look good plain and all beefed up. There’s an example of how to do this here, but I don’t know if you need to be a member to see it or not. It starts as a nice vector logo, and then is done in photoshop for the effects. Personally I think this is a great way to show the capabilities of your design to the client. What do you think? Is it too much? I guess there’s a limit to how much web 2.0 one can take. I’m actually wondering if this is web 2.0 or something better? It has the shine of the web 2.0 designs, but I think this looks nicer than the typical shine bubble over the design.
